Frequently Asked Questions

Important questions for you & their answers

We try to keep the same angel completing your visits where we can. However, everyone needs time off, and of course there are also those unforeseen circumstances such as illness or car trouble. By having a small team of angels in each location where we operate, we can guarantee a 365 day a year service.

Everyone that comes to work for us has to undergo a rigourous training and vetting programme. Part of this includes having a mandatory DBS check, supervised visits and regular spot-checks. We are also insured and registered with the National Association of Registered Petsitters, to give you as much reassurance as possible. Finally, we send you updates at every visit so that you can see how well your cats are doing.
We treat customers’ cats as if they were our own. If we notice that your cat looks a little bit under the weather or out of sorts, we would immediately contact you. At the initial consultation, we also take details of your vets and pet insurance, so if medical treatment is needed, we will ensure it is obtained.

In the early days of the business we used to agree to do every other day visits if requested. However, in the vast majority of cases we found that there were problems. For example, we would have difficulty bonding with the cats due to the long gap between visits, or litter trays would be overflowing when we arrived at the next visit due to them not having been cleaned for 48 hours. Additionally, if a cat were to become ill, it could cause serious problems if they were left unattended for more than 24 hours. As such, we have taken the decision that it is in the cats’ best interests for there to be a minimum of one visit every 24 hours.

We try to keep our pricing as simple and straightforward as possible. Our business is largely a seasonal one, but unlike many other seasonal businesses, we don’t increase our prices for the whole season. We only charge extra on bank holidays, and a couple of other days around Easter, Christmas and New Year. This is so that we can pay our staff extra for working over these periods when most other people are off work spending time with their families.

It’s completely up to you! If your cats usually have outdoor access and you are happy for them to continue doing so whilst you’re away, we will happily let your cats have outdoor access. If however you would prefer them to remain inside that’s absolutely fine too. We will ask you at the initial consultation what you would like us to do about outdoor access.
We have a policy whereby we never write customers’ full names or addresses on the key fob. Most customers these days ask us to retain a spare set of keys for future bookings, so when keys are not in use we store them securely in locked safes or key boxes.

We have a policy of not doing this because over the years we have seen many occasions when customers have had their return travel plans disrupted, e.g. a cancelled or delayed flight. If we put your keys through your letterbox on the last visit then we have no way of gaining access to the property again if you need us to, so it’s like an insurance policy to ensure that we can still care for your cats in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

For a start, we only look after cats! Many people in this industry are primarily dog walkers who will also agree to look after cats, however, we are all about our feline friends (if you also have small animals in the home such as hamsters or fish, we will happily feed them too).

Secondly, we are a well established business with a hard-earned excellent reputation. You will see from our Google or Facebook customer reviews that dissatisfaction with our service is almost unheard of. This is because we are dedicated to providing the best care for your beloved kitties and maintaining extremely high standards.

Thirdly, all our staff are employed by us. With some of the petsitting platforms, you really don’t know what you’re getting, as people are effectively self-employed and you will usually find that they just do petsitting as a supplement to their main job.

Finally, by employing teams of dedicated, loving and trustworthy catsitters in your area, we can offer you a round-the-year service. Many other petsitters are one-man bands, who will have times of the year when they are unavailable to care for your cats, e.g. if they are ill or have booked a holiday. At Kitty Angels on the other hand, we pride ourselves on being available for our customers when they need us.
Simple. Each of our teams is run by people who have been started off as catsitters and have gone on to manage the area themselves. We have very high standards for our manager training, and consistent service standards across the business. Our network of teams is connected, and we share best practice across the business to ensure that customers always receive the best possible care for their kitties, regardless which location they are in.
